More About Us

We are a family owned and operated, third generation company that offers complete jewelry services. Whitworth's Gift Chest Jewelers was founded by the late Guy Whitworth over 60 years ago. Now, the company is owned by his wife, Evelyn, and their son, Steve, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Steve has worked in the store since he was a young man, working side by side with his late father.  Steve married his high school sweetheart, Terena, and had two sons, Matt and Andy. Since 2017, Steve has been running the Margret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri but still finds time to work at the store a few hours, 5 days a week!  Do you wish to have Steve help you find your perfect piece? Make sure you call ahead or schedule an appointment with him and you're sure to be treated like royalty!

The current day-to-day operations of the store are run by Steve's oldest son, Matt. Matt has been working at the store for as long as he can remember, cleaning the glass cases when he was old enough to reach. Since graduating college in 2011, Matt has been working along side his father at the store but also took time to work for Boys and Girls Club of Poplar Bluff and Overnight Mountings out of New York. Matt returned back to the store in 2015 shortly after marrying his wife, Jenna. Matt and Jenna welcomed their first son, Owen, in 2018!  Matt is currently working on his gemology degree.  Matt loves to help customers find or design their favorite wardrobe accent piece.  Stop in and you're sure to have a blast!

Andy is the youngest, and as Matt, has been working in the store since he could reach the counters to clean. Andy helps Matt with the day-to-day operations and making sure customers continue to receive the Royal treatment that both Guy and Steve made a standard.  Andy is currently working on becoming the second goldsmith for the store.

Depending on when you come to visit you may even get to meet the great Ms. Evelyn Whitworth.  A cornerstone for not just the store but for the town. At 90 years old she still loves to meet new customers and make sure they are happy with all their purchases.

We are proud members of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce.
